Frequently Asked Questions

The length of your therapy session will depend on the type of service you are receiving.
Individual therapy: 45-50 minutes
Couples therapy: 45-60 minutes

Most clients begin therapy with weekly sessions to build momentum and establish consistency, especially when working through anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, or life transitions. As progress is made, some clients choose to move to biweekly or less frequent sessions based on their goals and needs. Session frequency is always collaborative and can be adjusted over time to support both clinical effectiveness and your schedule.
-
The first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your current concerns, relevant history, and what you hope to gain from therapy. You’ll also have time to ask questions about the therapy process, approach, and logistics.
While it may feel vulnerable to share personal information, the pace is guided by your comfort level. The goal is to create a safe, collaborative space and begin forming a plan that fits your needs and goals.
-
The length of therapy varies based on your goals, the concerns you’re working on, and the depth of change you’re seeking. Some clients come for short-term, focused support around a specific issue, while others choose longer-term therapy for ongoing growth, stress management, or relationship patterns. We regularly check in about progress and goals to ensure therapy remains helpful and aligned with what you want from the process.

Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy and is taken very seriously at our practice. All services are HIPAA-compliant, and your information is protected by strict legal and ethical standards. We do not confirm or deny whether someone is a client, and we do not communicate with employers, publicists, or third parties without your written consent. Many of our clients are in leadership or public-facing positions, and we prioritize privacy, discretion, and professionalism in every aspect of care.

Blueprint Therapy and Wellness is an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, many insurance plans offer out-of-network mental health benefits, and you may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement depending on your specific plan. Being out of network also allows us to provide care without insurance limitations on session frequency, length of treatment, or diagnostic requirements.
You can learn more about using out-of-network benefits on our Verifying Benefits page.
-
You are not required to use health insurance for therapy at our practice. Many clients choose to self-pay for greater privacy, flexibility, and control over their care, without insurance involvement or diagnosis requirements.
If you prefer to use out-of-network benefits, we can provide documentation for possible reimbursement, but using insurance is entirely optional and based on your personal preferences and coverage.
-
Session fees vary depending on the type of service and location. Many clients use their out-of-network insurance benefits, which often means a significant portion of the session fee is reimbursed directly to you by your insurance provider. We’re happy to provide documentation to support reimbursement and can help you understand how your benefits may apply. Rates and payment options are reviewed during your complimentary phone consultation so you can make an informed decision before starting therapy.

Yes! In addition to in-person services where available, we offer secure telehealth therapy to clients who reside in states where Stephanie is licensed. This allows clients to receive consistent care even if they live outside of major cities or prefer the convenience of online therapy. Location eligibility is based on where you are physically located at the time of your sessions.
-
Stephanie is licensed to provide therapy in Illinois, New York, and California. Many of our clients are busy professionals who travel often, and telehealth can be a flexible option when you are within a licensed state. If your schedule or travel plans change, we can work together to plan sessions around your availability and maintain continuity of care when possible.

Finding the right therapist is an important part of the therapy process. We offer a complimentary phone consultation so you can ask questions, share what you’re hoping to work on, and get a sense of whether the approach and style feel like a good fit. Therapy works best when you feel comfortable, understood, and supported, and we view the consultation as an opportunity to ensure that our services align with your needs and goals. You can read more about Stephanie’s background, experience, and trainings here.
